Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Review

The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is a very smooth powder that is bordering a cream. It takes some time to build up because it is not very opaque. but blending this is incredibly easy. and it will definitely not look cakey. This bronzer gives a natural sheen that imitates natural skin, and the shimmer that is lending this product its glow is nearly undetectable. (For more bronzer reviews, click here. You will already know this if you’ve seen this bronzer being reviewed anywhere else on social media, but the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer smells AMAZING. I’ll admit I have opened this while studying just to take a whiff. It smells like coconuts and beach (I’m awful at describing scents!). It does not have the punch of a perfume or a cologne, but it is very strong, and you will be able to smell it from the moment you open the packaging. I cannot smell the product once it is on my face (but I wish I could).

There are two shades in this range: Light Bronzer and Bronzer. I have the shade Bronzer. which will not show up at all if you are a medium to deep skin tone, which is so unfortunate because it is a great drugstore bronzer. This was only slightly deeper than my skin tone when I was tan…and I don’t get very tan. Light Bronzer is slightly lighter and warmer than Bronzer, and Bronzer has a neutral undertone. Personally, I do not think that either are cool enough to be used as contour.

Application

The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer comes with a flat rubbery sponge. Take note that this sponge is much less porous and more rubbery than your typical makeup sponge. Surprisingly, this sponge blended out the bronzer very nicely, but I found that the shape of this flat sponge made it awkward to pull across the skin. Nevertheless, if I was in a pinch, I would not hesitate to use this tool.

The Butter Bronzer applied beautifully with every blush brush I’ve tried with it.

I love the colour scheme and design of the packaging of this bronzer! It is very bright and easy to locate from any makeup mess I dig through in the morning. The packaging is typical for Physicians Formula – bulky and thick. but with such an amazing product, the bulky packaging barely fazes me.

Comparison to Physicians Formula Bronze Booster

The Bronze Booster bronzer is much warmer in colour compared to the Butter Bronzer which is more neutral. I have the darkest variation of both products, and Bronze Booster in Medium to Dark is very slightly darker than the Butter Bronzer in Bronzer (shade name); however it is unfortunate that both are not dark enough for darker skin. or even medium to dark skin tones. Physicians Formula has a great range of bronzers, but like a lot of other drugstore brands, they fail to cater to darker skin tones.

The Butter Bronzer has a creamy powder texture while the Bronze Booster is very dry, but the colour pay-off on both are equal .

Other than the size and format of these compacts, everything else in the packaging has been changed on the Butter Bronzer. Both have two sides to the packaging, the bottom compartment holding the application tool. The Bronze Booster has a mirror on the same side of the bronzer, while the Butter Bronzer has a mirror on the same side as the compartment. The application tool that comes with the Bronze Booster is a scratchy brush, while the Butter Bronzer comes with a spongy felt applicator (more information about application below).

Also, there is absolutely no scent at all in the Bronze Booster, while the Butter Bronzer smells heavenly (more information above in “Product” section).
